Nova Scotia
This East Coast province offers countless trails, fresh sea breezes, and beautiful landscape views.
Views OF Peggy's Cove LIGHTHOUSE
Perhaps one of the most iconic views from Canada, finding new views from the air brings a new perspective to the most photographed lighthouse in Canada.
Peggy's Cove Village
Park at the less busy lot, which is slightly further away, so you can wander through the little fishing village of Peggy's Cove. Catching the crashing waves on the rocks is very entertaining.
SALT MARSH TRAIL
A former railway, now a foot and bike path offers plenty of benches to stop and observe the wildlife and wild blooms.
Landscape views
There are beautiful views along the coast and inland along the agricultural areas of Nova Scotia.
My Tips
Food: The province has a strong food scene, including fresh seafood, with many visitors coming to have lobster and chowder.
Culture: Visit the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax, where you can find Maud Lewis' home and a piece from Kent Monkman.
Transport: One can drive to Nova Scotia or fly into Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) and take the bus into Halifax. The public transport in Halifax can be paid with cash upon boarding a bus; be sure to have exact change. To reach Cape Breton or other parts of the province, like Peggy's Cove an organized tour or a vehicle is needed.
Safety and vibes: The weather in Nova Scotia is often described as "moderate", have layers and be prepared for rain. Summers will be busier, especially at the beaches and tourist attractions.
